Alaska Sight Seeing Tours You Won’t Want to Miss!

The Alaskan outdoors is extensive and just magnificent.  There is much to see and most visitors to Alaska make use of the many Alaska sight seeing tours to do this in the time they have available to them.  Consider including these tours on your next Alaska vacation.

Cruises

Even if you fly to and from Alaska, include a cruise of some kind for a day or more along the spectacular Alaskan coastline.  Charter cruises operate out of Glacier Bay, Prince William Sound, Seward, Junea, in fact any popular Alaskan port.  You haven’t seen Alaska if you don’t do this from a cruise vantage.

Adventure Tours

These Alaska sight seeing tours can involve hiking, canoeing, biking, fishing, kayaking, whale watching and some have a natural history and ecotourism focus.  They operate from Alaska’s far south west to its far north in the tundra region and are run by locals experienced in their field and familiar with their terrain.

Fishing

Fishing is a state pastime in Alaska where some of the best fish in the world can be caught by mere novices with just a little knowledge and a little more patience.  Fishing tours off Seward and other ports for deep sea halibut and rafting tours down some of Alaska’s well known salmon rivers in search of King Salmon are worth investing in.

Bear Viewing

These often involve a short plane ride from Anchorage and coincide when the annual salmon run in its rivers.  Most popular bear viewing areas feature brown bears but some black bear viewing are available in southern Alaska.  Cabins are sometimes available for rent but visitors are limited so forward plan for these Alaska sight seeing tours.

Kayaking and Rafting

These tours abound in many parts of Alaska.  Most accommodate varying physical stamina and experience.  Sea kayaking as well as river and fjord kayaking is available in the upper reaches of Alaska’s rivers down to the ocean in Resurrection or Glacier Bays.

Hiking

These include mountain hikes, glacial walks, nature tours and backpacking treks.  Experienced guides will customize these tours to meet the needs of the group members.

Ski Tours

These are available around the ski areas of Alyeska Resort just outside of Anchorage and Eaglecrest near Juneau.  Ski schools, ski rental and repair, dog sledding and sleigh rides are available.

There is something for everyone in this selection of Alaska sight seeing tours where you can make the best use of local knowledge and expertise for an Alaskan experience that is authentically ‘close up and personal’.
