Alaskan Travel – 3 Reasons I Keep Returning

I was entranced by Alaska long before I traveled there.  It was no wonder, as many who had succumbed to the attraction of its grandeur and the warmth of its people before me, crossed my path at regular intervals and added their perspectives of this incredible place. My first Alaskan travel experience was delayed by about 20 years but since then I have returned often, each time to savor yet another part of this frontier state.  This is why I keep returninhg…

Airfares are one of the significant costs of a trip to Alaska but I’ve found that traveling to and from Alaska in shoulder seasons helps. The state airline Alaska Airlines offers budget airfares in and out of Alaska and if you book ahead and can be flexible with your departure and return dates the cost of your Alaskan travel airfare can be affordable.

The incredible variety of experiences available in Alaska means that even the most extensive vacation can not capture every aspect of this frontier state. Alaskan travel continues year after year for many like me who are compelled to see or do what time didn’t permit in the previous visit.  Hiking, fishing, jet boat riding, kayaking and canoeing are just some of the more active alternatives for Alaskan visitors and all within several quite different pristine settings.

If you prefer less active experiences just travel in Alaska on a plane, train, bus, RV, cruise ship or ferry ride and make sure you look out of the window!  Alaska’s scenery and its wildlife must be seen to be believed. Every turn provides something different and even more amazing.

Alaskan people are diverse, interesting, warm and welcoming. The first Alaskan I met sat next to me on a plane journey from Seattle to Anchorage. I still have his jotted notes listing places to see and things to do. He has been one of many Alaskans I know who are proud of their state and happy to share it with first time travelers or return visitors like me. To read how I followed this friendly Alaskan’s advice and discovered more adventures with the help of other Alaskans read my articles on this website.
