Cheap Alaska Travel - 3 Tips fora Low-Cost Alaska Vacation

Alaska is an affordable destination and breathtakingly beautiful even for those on a low cost vacation. If you book your travel to and from Alaska well ahead of time and don’t need 5 star accommodation, you will be able to plan a budget vacation and still experience the grandeur that’s available around most corners and free of charge. The following tips for cheap Alaska travel will help you keep costs down.

Budget airlines like state based Alaska Airlines offer competitive deals in and out of Anchorage so if you can afford an airfare to Alaska and book ahead of time to you will save on a major part of your vacation costs. Check regularly on-line to keep abreast of the best flight deals there. To make use of some of these be flexible enough to leave in a hurry.

Camping is a cheap Alaska travel option in summer as camping grounds are found along most of the paved road ways around the state. Camping grounds are also located within Alaska’s national parks and shared by vacationers using RV’s. They generally have amenities like food stores and showers. Campgrounds are often located near tourist towns like Valdez, Seward and Homer and you can access hiking, rafting, fishing or glacier expeditions.  Some of these make less of a dent on your budget than others.

You can expect to find wildlife anywhere in Alaska so make sure you follow directions about food and food scraps carefully.

Buses provide cheap Alaska travel to a number of well known parts of this state. The cheapest transport to the far Arctic north is by bus and there are bus companies between Anchorage and Seward on the west, Homer on the Kenai Peninsular and Whitehorse near the Canadian border. Train travel is more expensive but still not prohibitive and if you bring your own bicycle, costs are even less!
