How to Utilize Alaska Travel Agents to Get the Best Alaska Vacation
Despite the benefit of the internet as a source of important information for travelers today, there is still a place for travel agents. Alaska travel agents, especially well informed, experienced and well traveled Alaska travel agents are the kind we find most helpful in our travels there. We find that the most successful travel agent experiences are when they best match these types of travelers.
Traveler Type 1
The lives of some travelers to Alaska are so full that its all they can do to find time to call Alaska travel agents, provide available vacation times and other relevant details and get them to organize their vacation for them. This fully booked, fully organized tour of Alaska can be the basis of a successful experience there especially if your lead up to your travel is filled with other responsibilities. In these cases use your travel agent as you would a personal assistant (perhaps in conjunction with your own PA) and have them make and manage all the details.
Traveler Type 2
Other travelers enjoy surfing the net or accessing information in travel books to develop an idea of the kind of Alaskan itinerary they’d like as well as how they’d like to travel during their vacation. Alaska travel agents assume a slightly different role with these travelers, collaborating more with them on their travel plan. Their knowledge and experience about travel in Alaska can still be valuable.
Traveler Type 3
The last kind of traveler is more an independent operator who may have been to Alaska before or have contacts living there. In this case, many of the travel arrangements will be done on-line without the need to extensively utilize the skills Alaska travel agents. Sometimes they may have access to bulk plane flights or know of interesting out of the way places that may interest these travelers so they are still worth including in your planning loop.
Decide on the type of traveler you will be as you prepare for your Alaskan travel adventure and use your experienced and informed travel agent accordingly.
